Misled by Vodacom affiliate.
During August 2019 a company working for Vodacom phoned and said that I can upgrade one month earlier if I do it through them. I was promised an UPGRADE; thus top of the range with new technology etc. I said yes and within 48 hours it was delivered at my work. Quite impressive. Went the same day to the Vodacom shop in Clearwater to do the necessary. The guy at the Vodacom shop said the UPGRADE was not new technology and that my present phone is 100% better. I immediately phone back and cancelled everything; or so I thought. Firstly I was put through to a guy who tried to con me to keep the phone. I said "Genugtig, you sound like a second hand car sales man desperate for a sale." He was then very rude and threatening. I stopped the conversation and said they must come pick up their phone; I will upgrade on my own time and make my own choices. I was phoned by a lady that said everything was cancelled with everything back to normal. February 2020 I tried to upgrade but was told I can only upgrade in 2021! I actually forgot about the previous years circus moves. I started emailing and phoning all the Vodacom numbers I could find. (At least twenty calls over a four week period.) All the people I spoke to from Vodacom listened and said they would get back to me. They all did; they can do nothing about it. They were very sympathetic; but said sorry. I still have the "upgrade phone with me; but still use my old phone. I feel that I was not protected by Vodacom. I've been a loyal customer for more than 25 years. To be misled and cheated by one of Vodacom affiliates is a disgrace.
