Misleading Upgrade Options and Poor Support

0/5 stars

I recently attempted to upgrade my phone contract with a SIM-only option, since I don’t need a new device. The online upgrade process is misleading, as it creates the impression that you have several valid upgrade offers. The section labeled “Deals you qualify for” only reveals that most of these are actually new-line deals once you try to complete the upgrade.

The only deal advertised at R99, i want, is apparently “for new lines only,” even though it appears under upgrade options, as mentioned. According to Vodacom, this is based on “usage,” but I barely use any data, calls, or SMS in the first place. Yet the cheapest available upgrade they offer me, 'that is a legit upgrade' is R269 for airtime I don’t even use.

When I tried to cancel the mistaken new-line activation, the support process has been incredibly slow. I’ve been passed around between departments, online and in-store, and after three days and counting, the issue is still not resolved.

So I am considering prepaid, but even trying to switch to this is a struggle with vodacom trying to **** me into staying on a contract and blatantly lying to my saying I will lose my number, etc.

The other problem is that a watch with a sim only works with contracts and not prepaid basically forcing you to get a contract just to use the watch wiht the same number with no apparent workaround.

Horrible ****ming company, worst experience ever.
