Misleading Sales and Terrible Customer Service

My partner and I visited the Vodacom Shop in Cresta on 11 September and were informed that we had an upgrade due. We were told that the value of the existing contract of R800/R900 would be replaced. I chose a cheaper contract under the premise that I would be saving money. Come 12 September, our updated invoice showed that the consultant had given us the wrong information and that the upgrade actually replaced a cheaper contract and that I was now paying R500 more for the additional device and not replacing the R800/R900 contract. The device was unused and we went back to the store to return the device and cancel the contract as it was taken out on a false premise as I would have never accepted additional obligations that I could not afford, the consultant apologized for the mix up, but both the manager and consultant said that they can't do anything about it and we are just stuck with the contract because Vodacom does not do returns or reversals.

This is directly against the CPA and after phoning Customer Care and being told that I cannot talk to someone about the complaint on the phone, I have sent communication to the customer care email address, and no one has even acknowledged the receipt of the complaint or attempted to contact me.

This is gross misconduct and will be escalated if Vodacom does not contact me resolve this matter. I'm so let down by this experience and will never trust Vodacom again.

Good day,

Please note that this is not the communication that I have been receiving from Vodacom retentions and have had several conversations with various persons at Vodacom saying that this query is at various stages of being escalated and/or resolved. I was provided false information regarding the sale, which is directly against the consumer protection act.

As it has been weeks of back and forth with the Vodacom teams where no one can seem to communicate clearly and directly, with myself or with each other, I will have no choice but to escalate this to the Ombudsman should this not be resolved within the week.

Good day.
