Misleading Information and inaccessibility!

On 20 June 2026, I received an unsolicited call from the Vodacom rewards Contact centre, agent PHUNZ001, during which I was sold a 24 month contract for airtime and data. The recorded call will confirm that the agent knew my contract was almost at an end, that I was paying "too much", given my requirements, that my intention was to retain the current handset for a period, which period was not discussed (but was never intended to be for 24 months, as we all know the I-phones batteries don't last). This month was the 1st time in my very long history with Vodacom (from the very 1st Nokia brick phone) that I would not be paying for a handset! Next month would have been my 2nd, had my phone not been ****** yesterday! It has taken me a full day of back and fro-ing to eventually be told by a Vodacom franchise employee that the only manner in which my complaint will be addressed is on this forum- a sad day indeed when a company is SO big, that no one can reach anyone by phone! Not once during the said call with your agent was I advised that I would not be able to link a new device purchased from you (!) onto this new contract for any given period. Given my unfortunate circumstances (and the nature of my interior design business) I cannot operate without a phone and camera. A day of investigation now confirms that I can only "upgrade", i.e get the new Iphone 17 on 30 August, almost half a month from now. I can buy the phone from the I-store on Vodacom contract (I do not have R20k cash lying around) but that means an extra line/number, which is a disaster for a phone number that I have come along with for always. Or I can pay them approx. R1000 per month over and above the R580 that I pay you in terms of the contract of 20/6/2026. I can get the same phone through you, Vodacom, with the same airtime and data bundles for R1 350/month, but only from the end of the month! Had I been made aware of this fact, I would not have entered into the oral agreement with you, but held over until I knew what I wanted to do handset wise. As said, you contacted me, not the other way around. I prefer doing business with people I can see- listen to the recording. The contract under discussion and my phone number can be found under: Quotation No: ***. Sadly you can only contact me when I have both a laptop and wi-fi at my disposal, until I have a phone. You can contact me on email as well. I look forward to hearing from someone urgently! Teana
