Miscommunication between Vodacom insurance, repairs and Sell Cell

Hi Team,

Job number: ***4

I am extremely frustrated by the continued poor coordination across Vodacom repairs, Vodacom Insurance, Sell Cell and Vodaworld. What should have been a straightforward repair process has turned into a drawn out and confusing experience.

I visited Vodaworld today with the intention of collecting my old phone so that it would be ready upon delivery of my IRD replacement device on Monday. I was advised by the consultant that insurance was meant to notify me once my old phone had been delivered to Vodaworld. This notification never occurred. I was then informed that my phone is still at the repairs centre, which directly contradicts prior information provided to me.

For clarity, below is a recap of my experience:

I have been a loyal Vodacom customer for many years and have consistently paid comprehensive insurance on my iPhone 12 Pro.

On 3 January, I handed in my device at Vodaworld to repair the internal speaker. The process initially appeared smooth: my data was wiped and I was issued a Vodacom loan phone.

I was informed that my phone would be ready by 6 January.

When I followed up on 13, 14 and 15 January, several agents from the repair centre advised that there was no update because I allegedly did not have insurance.

This is both confusing and unacceptable. How can I be told I do not have insurance when:

I am in possession of a Vodacom loan phone (which is only issued when insurance is active)

My monthly Vodacom invoices clearly reflect comprehensive device insurance?

Had I not followed up proactively, I would not have been informed of this so-called “issue” at all.

Sell Cell attempted to deliver my replacement phone on Friday. Fortunately, the courier got lost, allowing me to reschedule delivery to Monday. This is precisely why I went to Vodaworld today to collect my old phone in preparation. Instead, I was told that Vodaworld is still waiting for the salvage phone to be returned from the repairs centre.

This entire experience highlights a serious breakdown in communication between Vodacom Insurance, Sell Cell, the repairs centre and Vodaworld. These teams clearly are not aligned and the customer bears the cost of that dysfunction.

I request:

Immediate clarity on the exact location and status of my original device and when it will be delivered A clear explanation as to why I was incorrectly told I do not have insurance.

Confirmation of when my salvage/old phone will be returned to Vodaworld?

Assurance that my IRD delivery and overall insurance process will proceed without further disruption?
