****med

I am extremely concerned and disappointed after receiving a suspicious and clearly *****ulent SMS that uses Vodacom’s name and branding to **** customers.

Here is the message I received:

> Vodacom Unlock Summer! Rewards you with a Brand new iPhone 16 pro max + R5 000 Shopping Grocery voucher + R30 000 in cash! Ref *** Pin 26* You have 70% On our promo draw system redeem your creditors Vodabucks with 30% Within 30 minutes of Activation you will receive an SMS with your full pin. To opt out, reply STOP. Ts&Cs Get your share of R30m in rewards & prizes. Complete daily goals to Unlock Your 30 on VodaPay or 133# #30YearsOfVodacom

This message came from ***.

The SMS is clearly designed to trick people into thinking they’ve won prizes, using fami**** terms like "Vodabucks," "VodaPay," and "30 Years of Vodacom." This is highly misleading, and many unsuspecting Vodacom users may fall victim to it.

Vodacom, I expect better protection for your customers. You need to:

Publicly clarify that this is not a legitimate promotion.

Investigate and block the number involved in the ****.

Work with ICASA or WASPA to stop this kind of abuse.

We trust Vodacom with our personal information and expect you to take ****s like this seriously. I hope to see prompt action and public awareness raised to prevent others from being ****med.
