LTE deactivated and cant't get it fixed

I recently upgraded my Vodacom contract. About a week after the upgrade I noticed that I am no longer connected to the LTE 4G network but to HSDPA. Firstly I tried phoning the call centre. After three attemps when I hung up after being on hold for 20 minute + each time I managed to get someone to answer. I foolishly did not write down his name. Friendly young man, promised me he reactivated it and the network and connection should reset in 1-2 hours. 5 Hours later nothing, so I tried phoning again, again spending a total of an hour on hold in 2 attempted calls and giving up. Tried again this morning, call answered after being on hold 25 minutes. The lady who answered said it looks active on her side, checked my settings, restarted my phone (after phoning me back on a landline so we could continue) but she did not manage to get the problem sorted out. She suggested I go to a Vodacom shop to see if they can sort it out. This is a simple network setting they have to reactivate but they seem unable to do so.

I also made contact with Vodacom via their Twitter feeds. They communicated back that they tried to phone me back with no success, but my phone is right next to me, not on silent with full signal bars. I gave them an alterntive number and have not heard back for about an hour.

1. Surely a company the size of Vodacom can answer a customer service call in less than 20-30 MINUTES! I have wasted at least 3 hours of my life sitting waiting on hold to get Vodacom Customer Care (what a misnomer) to not help me.

2. Why did someone there deactivate the LTE service when processing upgrade documents in the first place? My account plan changed, not the services I should have access to. I upgraded to a very recently launched top-range smartphone, why would I want to expect LTE 4G access on it?

3. Through how many channels must I NOT get any help from Vodacom? I don't have the time to just go to a Vodacom Shop for them to do something that could have been done over the phone.

4. When I phone the Vodacom Shop salesman who helped me with the upgrade I get promises of returned calls in a few minutes (twice) and I have as yet not had a call back from him.
