Loyalty Means Nothing to Vodacom

I've been a vodacom subscriber since I first at got a cellphone back in 2001. I've been a contract customer for the last 6 years and decoded for a change because of price.

So come February 2016 I decided to cancel my contract which was due to expire on 15 March 2017. The attendant asked me why I was leaving and I told them I got a better deal and mentioned my deal and they reckon that it was a good deal and vodacom would not match it so he proceeded with the cancellation.

At this point I presumed my contract would be cancelled on the 15th and that I would lose all my balances by the 15th which is expected but then I get my invoice and I got billed for the entire month of March and come the 15th I lost all my balances.

So I contacted vodacom to complain advising that it is not fair to bill a customer for the full month but cut their contract in the middle of the month. I am fine with you cancelling it mid month but be fair a pro rata my allocation and bill. So I am then told "sorry sir nothing we can do about it". The call centre told me that I asked to cancel it and I need to pay for the full month because on the 1st I am given a full allocation and there is nothing that vodacom can do. So I demanded that vodacom look into my cancellation request and advise me where did I acknowledge that I would be billed for a full month if the contract ia cancelled mid month. I was told they will do and I will be sent a reference number.

24 hours later and no reference number. Instead I receive a message saying "Good day all charges on the invoice charge are correct as the CONTRACT is 24monhts (sic) the payment ate the remaining 24moths. Thank you Vodacom back office."

Firstly let's not talk about the unprofessional and poor English used by "SA's best carrier", let's talk about the service and professional response. They committed to contacting me and providing a reference and none of which were done. Secondly I have a 24 month contract and I'm month 1 the bill was pro rata and then another full 23 months so obviously month 24 should be pro rata. Lastly I have supported vodacom for over 15 years and this is how a customer is treated?? If vodacom had given me another 2 weeks to use my balance it would have been all good or at least explain how they go about cancelling customer contracts mid month without informing my them they will still be liable for a full month??

This is underhanded and unprofessional and shows how little vodacom cares about its subscribers. The money is not a lot and doesn't bother me because thankfully I cam afford the extra R150 odd they pocketed but it's a principal of service and paying back loyalty.

Absolutely **** and maybe it's best I left.

Vodacom need to get their act together or things will change very fast. Truly disappointed and I'm sure they wouldn't even bother getting back to me.
