Loyal paying customer for 10yrs, now being blacklisted after cancelling fully paid contract

I've had 2 contracts with Vodacom for over 10 years, upgrading when needed. Never skipped a payment. Tried cancelling it from Aug 2025 (082135 is no help), with promises to receive SMSes for confirmation. No SMS came. Eventually had to go into a store, Lenasia, trade route (11 Nov 2025), and they too couldn't help me cancel!

I had to phone (082135) They first couldn't help me and told me to go in store. People in store said I had to phone the centre. After insisting and arguing eventually someone in store phoned the call centre and I had Penelope from Vodacom try to sell me every other contract under the sun, and even told me I had to pay R20 per month for my number that I have for 26 years! No explanation. When I insisted to cancel, the previous friendly Penelope ( wasn't so friendly eventually) sent me emails confirming cancellation and closure for the last payment to go off in Dec 2025 (3 months after my contract expired). All amounts were payed up.

On 1 Jan 2026 Vodacom debited money from my account and nobody can explain what the mount is for and why I must pay it. Now I get calls all day from the vvm call centre who says I must pay it and THEN CANCEL with Vodacom on 082135!!

I spoke to managers at Vodacom trade route (Shaheed) who have nothing on record showing I owe any money and that all accounts and contracts are closed.

The service at Vodacom is great if you want a new contract or upgrade. When you try to cancel, they divert you and then apparently debit your bank account without authorisation. As at today (17.02,2026) the people at vvm (debt collectors) threatened to blacklist me. Wow.

I will never recommend Vodacom or sign up with them again.
