Loyal customer mislead by Vodacom staff

I have a cell phone conract with Vodacom. A while ago I dropped my Samsung S6 Edge and cracked the screen. On Thursday the 7th of July I finally got a chance to go and hand it in at the Vodacom repair shop in Greenacres, PE. My phone is still under the 2 year warranty and is registered and ADH covered. Miss Dorothy Dywili served me at the shop on Thursday and said that the phone will be fixed for free as this is the first time that I broke the screen and it is still under warranty and that all of this will take place in 2-3 working days.

On Monday the 11th they let me know that they can't fix it free of charge because I have had the phone for just over a year and that they will charge me almost R3000 to fix the screen.

How can they say one thing and then change their minds? Why did it take them 3 working days and a weekend to figure this error out? This has inconvenience me severely. I need my phone for work and they have had it for the period of time they said it would take, yet we are nowhere closer to the phone being fixed or me getting it back.
