Lost in Limbo

Being a 10 year contract holder with Vodacom I have been mostly happy with their service.

3 July 2017 has changed this. I have been trying to upgrade my contract with Vodacom for two weeks now, since Noon 3 July 2017. I went to the Bayside Branch in Tableview and spoke with Davidene on 3 July to do the upgrade. I told Davaidene I would like to upgrade to an LG V20. She looked up my phone number and I D, and told me she could not find me. I told her I have been with Vodacom for 10 years. Davidene then decided to look in their old system and there found me. Davidene went to the back to check stock and returned to inform me that stock is out but she would order a phone, have it in before Friday, 7 July 2017 and call me so we could do the upgrade. Davidene has not called me yet. It is now Monday, 17 July 2017 18:23 in the evening.

On Monday, 10 July 2017, I decided to call Vodacom's contract upgrade department and see if I could initiate the contract upgrade in this manner. I initially spoke with Hlobisile at 08:50. Hlobisile put me in contact with Lynette. Lynette finally found me in their old system after realizing I have not yet been put into their new system. I let her know which phone I wanted (LG V20) and that a contract similar to what I already have would be great. Lynette suggested a Smart Top Up Plan S Plus with 200 minutes at R509.00 per month. I thought that sounded great. She also informed me that LG V 20 phones are not out of stock and there would be no problem there. We did the requisite security checks for the order and upgrade. Lynette said she would call me back in 15 minutes to finalize the order. Lynette never called me back.

I waited 3 days.

Thursday, 13 July 2017. Deciding that Lynette is never going to call me I called Vodacom to find out what was happening with my upgrade order. After speaking with Amra and then, finally, Lynette, I found that NOTHING was happening with my upgrade. I spent the rest of the day speaking with: Beatrice, Justice, Shade, Lynette, and then again Beatrice.

I have been told the promotion offered to me (I did not request it) was expired.

I have been told that because I am still in the old system there are problems with upgrades.

I have been told phones are out of stock.

I have been told the request is being escalated.

I have been told, " We are sorry," numerous times.

I have been told countless times now that Vodacom would call me back. That one must be their standard office joke!

After all this, for 2 weeks now, I have realized my contract upgrade seems to hinge on Lynette (upgrade department ********** ) and her abilities to resolve whatever this is. I don't know how this situation came to be or why Vodacom WILL NOT RESOLVE THIS!
