Little to No Service
I live in Merrivale (Howick) and my husband runs his business from home. He has a Vodacom phone. Since we moved to Merrivale last year in August we have been battling with reception in the area. Over time it has just become progressively worse over time. On 23 March 2016 we had finally reached a point where we've had enough and I sent a letter of complaint to Vodacom Customer Care asking them to please look into the situation of reception in the area as it was costing my husband money. Customers were complaining that they could not get hold of him and subsequently went to someone else for their services. I was told that the matter was being looked into and that there is a 14 day turn around time period. Suffice it to say, 14 days have come and gone with no joy. Every time I request a report on what progress is being made, I get told it's still under investigation or I just get a lovely little e-mail saying "Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your concerns to our department. It is with the co-operation of valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any possible improvement areas within our organization." and that the matter is still under investigation. This after I've requested not only reports on the progress (which they never tell you how far they are) and me advising them that I've had a family emergency where I could not get old of my husband or my brother (both vodacom users). It is now more than a month after I complained to them about the reception in Merrivale and still I have had no real feedback from Vodacom regarding the progress they have made in their "investigation". Has Vodacom reached the point where they are so big that they don't care about the little man anymore? My husband has lost thousands of rands in business because of the lack of reception in the area where we live and Vodacome does not seem to care. I have a six month old baby at home, and just as an example, she was recently very sick. I could not phone or message my husband to find out how my baby was doing at home, because there is no reception. I had to phone my mother-in law to drive to my house to find out how my child was doing. What if there is a medical emergency and my husband needs to get hold of me urgently? How must he do that when there is no cell phone reception for Vodacom? I am on MTN and I have reception when I am at home. I think I have been patient enough with Vodacom this last month regarding my complaint. I find it absolutely disgusting that they could not be bothered to give an actual report on what they have done so far regarding my complaint and what progress has been made to resolve the matter. I honestly would not recommend anyone to Vodacom at the moment. I would rather tell them to go to MTN.
