Life Cover added to all Contracts without permission from the Customer
I received a SMS from Vodacom stating that contract cover has been added and that in the event of my death my contract subscription would be covered in full. I was told to contact Vodacom if I wish to cancel. I noted this SMS by chance as I receive so many spam messages. Vodacom is not allowed to change the contract without consent. They have added life insurance to my contract that I did not want/ask for. I now had to call and wait in the que at the (poor) service desk to get this cancelled. During the call (which I have recorded) I was told that this was a "system fault", and that the system since December 2018 automatically adds the cover to contracts. Of course the system cannot program itself, this was done by Vodacom. They know that most people do not read all SMS's, and that this will ad around 3% to their revenue from contracts. This is nothing but ***** and *******ion. Our country has ******* state owned enterprises and it seems private business is following their example to ******* the poor consumer. If I want life insurance I will ask for it. No one has the right to add this to any contract without my permission.
