I received a call from someone by the name of Josh (sp?) sometime in April with regards to opening a contract with Vodacom. I specifically asked for it to be a Top Up type of deal and was assured by him that this was the case. We had constant communication throughout the process and I even queried how I was able to contact him once my airtime/minutes were finished and was told that my data minutes would then be used. However, once the data minutes were finished I was still able to call. The arrangement I made with him was that I would only pay a maximum of R300 per month and that there would be no extra charges (as would be with a top up contract).

Now, I have received a bill for R710! I don't understand how this is possible considering the above. I have also been contacting Vodacom (the call centre) almost daily since receiving the notification of the payment due and have been told on numerous occasions it would be sorted out, or that someone would contact me to sort it out. Nothing has happened and my debit order is due to go off tomorrow.

I find this all very unfair as I will be the one penalised for not honouring my debit order and this will adversely affect my credit record. I want to finance a car soon and this will be the deciding factor in that not happening. As I understand it, Josh no longer works for Vodacom - but why is that my problem? Surely, as it states with every phonecall, all calls are recorded....why can you not then get the recording to prove that he was in the wrong and not me?

I have been **** to and no one has been helpful in sorting this out.

Absolutely disgusting service from Vodacom!
