Lack of Service

the day prior to leaving on vacation my phone with a Vodacom contract went missing. I went to the Vodacom Shop in Forest Hill City and found teh doors locked at 18:50 although the store hours were indicated as open until 19:00. Store attendants were standing around inside seemingly oblivious to myself and another customer. I asked to speak to the store manager who informed me that due to "security reasons" the store closes at 18:45. I eventually was able to contact V odacom at 22:00 to block my sim card.

Subsequently I visited the store to cancel my contract - I was told this can only be done telephonically. Strange how a new contratct can be signed or a contract renewed or migrated in store , but not be cancelled. Upon having the store attendant call contract retentions (to cancel a contract), Vodacom was unable to assist due to being offline.

This morning I called again and went through the process of cancelling my contract. I was told that I would be billed again in June (I've hjust been billed for May, but am unable to use the contract) due to not cancelling last month. To my consternation I've received a migaration quote to a Vodago Prepaid account - I'm sure I requested a cancellation of contract , but this probably does not sit well with the Vodacom image as it looks better on paper that a client migrated to prepaid rather than cancelled a contract due to bad service.

So why could Vodacom Shop Forest Hill City not assist me if all that was going to happen to cancel my contract was to migrate to a prepaid account?
