Lack of empathy or good customer service

I have been a customer of Vodacom with the same number for 16 years.

Recently a debit order was not processed by Vodacom for my contract whcih is a Smart M package. Subsequently my service got disconnected earlier this week affecting my ability to call out or use my data which I use for my general business.

I contacted the subscriber centre on 26th July 2017 and informed the agent I selected the 'Promise to pay by' option to settle the outstanding balance the following month. I requested with this promise in mind that my services be re-activated. Without understanding the situation or making a special case knowing how long I have been a customer of Vodacom, the agent refused to reconnect, insisting I settle the outstanding amount, despite seeing my history of making payments on time. There was no concern shown when I mentioned I will look to move to another supplier.

I think Vodacom needs to take such issues into account quite seriously, knowing it has had a customer for so long. I would like someone senior to contact me and reinstate my service with immediate effect, or I will definitely look to another supplier who will give me better customer service.

Really disappointing from a big brand such as Vodacom!
