Just avoid Vodacom for Black Friday

I’m convinced ordering from Vodacom online is used as a torture method in hell, because there is no way whatever they are doing with Skynet almost passes as customer service, let alone decent customer service.

I ordered their tv and router Black Friday deal on 27 November as a Christmas gift. Despite their claim that I would receive the product in 5 business days, delivery was only attempted on 24 December. An SMS was sent to my data SIM card in my router instead of the normal number Vodacom normally sends communications on asking me to have my ID with me. My ID was not at home so the delivery could not be made. We were told the item would be delivered the following business day.

After staying home during my December leave, nothing was delivered. After continuously calling SkyNet to follow up on delivery, I was always told it would be delivered that afternoon or the next day but further delivery was never even attempted. Skynet confirmed that they would need to attempt delivery 3 times before returning the item.

In Mid January Skynet advised that the order had been sent back and asked me to contact Vodacom. After logging a complaint and never getting feedback, I called Vodacom. After many transfers, I know nothing new. I wanted to upgrade my contract in the first place because I needed more data however, they do not even seem to be willing to give me the data part of the contract, instead I have been advised to look at the new deals which naturally do not even compare to the Black Friday deals.

Vodacom needs to do better. I had gone into store to get assistance with ordering online and I was told they could not help me unless I had cancelled the order and reordered with them. After making me wait for 45 minutes they casually mentioned an amount which was higher. Honestly Vodacom? Perhaps add a digital consultant in store so customers aren’t essentially told “we’re not helping you if you aren’t contributing to our sales” or at least ask them to give the customer a number to call instead of just saying ordering online is so difficult, just cancel our order. This was honestly a pathetically bad experience and I am appalled that a company like Vodacom can think this is okay.
