Good Day Last year, I went to one of the Vodacom stores here in Rustenburg as I was having a mic problem, I could hear the person on the other side but they could not hear me, so I had to answer using loudspeaker. When I got to the store, the person who assisted "fixed" the problem with a mere staple & the speaker worked thereafter. I went to the same store again sometime this year with the same problem, a staple was used yet again. During August 2019, I took my phone for a screen repair & 2 days later I was told my phone was ready. Upon receiving my phone, my phone was still the same with just a new screen, however when I got back to the office, certain parts of the screen were not working. I took it back on the same day & a software update was done on it therefore losing all my data. Luckily I had backed up. During the same month I took my phone for a repairs as headsets were not working. No data lost during this repair. Towards the end of September 2019, the mic problem resurfaced. On monday, the 7th of October 2019 around 14:30, I took my phone again & this time i spoke to the store manager, Jacque (sp). I infomed him of my many visits regarding the mic issue & my frustrations as I am a Bolt/Taxify driver & I lose money everyday I don't have my phone on me. I further told him had my phone been booked in previously for the mic issue without a staple being used, the problem (presumably) wouldn't have persisted as it did. He tried getting me in touch with the repairs manager but she/he was on lunch. Jacque later came back & told me he got a hold of the repairs manager over the phone & I should book my phone in but advised me that my 2nd screen warranty would be used. I did not agree with this but since I figured my screen insurance & handset warranty expire the end of November 2019, I ended up agreeing. I was then assisted by a lady by the name of Bianca who promised me that no files of mine would be lost as I did not backup this time around as I figured a mic repair & software are not interrelated. She then told she will write a note to the repairs team not to erase my data. On the 9th of October 2019 around 3pm, with no communication from the store, I decided to call the store to find out if my device was ready, & I was informed it was. Coincidentally so, about 10 minutes later, I received an SMS from the store that my device was ready for collection. I then went to the store to collect but realized a software update was done. I did not lose my files, but I did lose some apps, including the "files" app, an app that comes standard with Huawei handsets to my knowledge. I refused to sign the dispatch paper on the basis that I was promised by a Vodacom employee that I will not lose anything. I gave the phone back to Dillion, who then went to the staff room to try resolving the "files" app situation. Needless to say I was in the store for over an hour. Dillion finally came back & the issue was not resolved. I left the phone. Halfway home, Dillion calls to tell me that the issue has been resolved. When I got to the store, the "files" app was there, however, files in the safe were not there, & this goes back to the fact that I was told I will not lose anything. The repairs manager came & we tried to resolve the safe in the files app situation. He informed me he does not know the safe works but informed me he will find out from head office if there is a way I can get my files which were in the safe back then get back to me today morning. Regrettably, he hasn't contacted me. In conclusion, I was assured by a Vodacom employee that I will not lose anything, I did. All these travellings to the store costed me petrol, money & time. As it stands, I am just under 500KMs away from service, so every KM counts. My petrol gauge was on 4 bars when I was told the issue was solved. Got home with 2 bars. Not to mention the possible income lost from being a Bolt/Taxify driver.
