Jeopardising client's financial security

I am disgusted with Vodacom and how they conduct business.

Last year November Vodacom had a glitch with the old system doing debit orders off of bank accounts even though no payment was due. I called to enquire about this and was told that I need not worry as they will sort it out. I proceeded to inform the consultant that the account that they debited was under debt review and this could jeopardise a court order that is in place. Once again I was advised that I need not worry.

Much to my frustration, Vodacom has still not sorted this out. When the incorrect debit order went off, Vodacom did not check which debit orders bounced and which were successful before transferring money into the accounts they incorrectly debited. So now money has been paid into an account I have no access to.

I called to speak to Ashwin Abrahams and he assured me he would handle the situation. When I asked Ashwin for a copy of the recording, he told me I need to subpoena it. After we spent a while on the phone I asked him to please let me know what I need to do to get this sorted out as my phone gets bared every month because of Vodacom’s mistake.

Ashwin told me I need to send him proof that the account that the money was paid into is under debt review, which I did. Now Vodacom bared my phone again because Ashwin did not live up to the promises he made and Vodacom is in capable of actually reading documents before taking action.

I have been promises to be called back and NOBODY ever does. Maybe I should take this to the consumer protection act and lay charges of ***** against Vodacom?

Yes it was resolved but it is no thanks to you. I phoned around until I was blue in my face to get someone to assist. Vodacom is the most pathetic company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. There might be 1 or 2 staff members in the whole of Vodacom that actually know what they are doing.
