Is this how you treat your best customers?

I know what my monthly bill from Vodacom should be. Nor exactly, but close. At the beginning of 2020, my bill was a R1000 less than normally. I contacted Vodacom and said there should be a mistake, but they said my bill is right and I do not have to worry about it. This happened at least 3 times this year. I told them that there is a mistake and I do not want them to realize this and give me an enormous bill to settle once they find the fault. They assured me that I can relax. End of August I received a bill for three times the usual. I phoned them numerous times to say that I shall pay this bill, but they should give me a chance to pay the arrears over 3 months. Every single time I phoned them throughout September they either told me they will get back to me, or the phone was disconnected after holding for a very long time. At last I went through and I explained my problem for the hundredth time. The person at accounts told me that I can pay the arears and the normal bill over 2 months maximum. She also said that the arrears weren't their problem but mine. I told her to listen to all the calls from the beginning of the year where Vodacom assured me, they will not expect me to pay if they made the mistake. The lady said it was not their mistake, but a client who paid the wrong account(mine). I said that the mistake was made by one of their clients and that they should at least take some of the blame. Then she said that her supervisor will get back to me... which never happened. My Chatz agent then told me to e-mail them a letter where I explain this and then the issue will be in their court. Nobody came back to me. So, end of September, I paid my normal bill plus an amount and they accepted it so, because my line wasn't disconnected or anything. On the thirtieth of October they blocked all my lines. I called and a lady at accounts told me that she totally agrees and she understood my problem. She came back to me and said I have to pay x amount and then they will reconnect my lines within 2 hours. I told her that I always pay my bill on the first so how can they expect me to pay before I get my income. She assured me that she will try to fix the problem before end of business on that day (Friday)...nothing changed and my lines were still blocked. On Saturday I paid the amount she said and phoned Vodacom. I could not get through to them, but an automated voice said if I paid my lines would be reconnected within 2 hours. (I made a direct payment so the money was in their account. Needless to say, after 2 hours my line was still dead. I phoned again and they told my it was not within business hours and that I should call on Sunday between 9 and 13h00. I did and still not get hold of them. I have been a client of Vodacom for 23 years in that 23 years my number stayed the same. I always paid my bill on time and they never had one single problem with me in this regard. I am so angry at them because they and their client made a mistake, I told them about it numerous times, They told me that I should relax, they told me they would never expect me to pay all at once if they made the mistake, they then hit me with 3 times my bill, I tried for a month to get hold of them in this regard, when I finally reached them they told me I should pay for their mistake in two months' time, they said they will get back to me, I wrote them a letter explaining the problem in detail and they never came back to me, I paid as I promised and they disconnected me before I normally pay my bill, they disconnected me without ever getting back to me, they told me to pay x amount and my line will be restored within 2 hours and they did not stick to one singe promise they made. My question is: If this is the way they treat a customer whose payment was made on time for 23 years every month, then why would anybody want to be a customer of such a company? Vodacom's service is getting to the point where Telcom's service were before we all cancelled our Telcom phones.

I posted my complaint on Sunday. I called Vodacom another 3 times on Sunday, according to their business hours I should have been able to talk to a person, but all I got was a machine telling me that they see I called numerous times and an agent will get back to me. The response above came from Vodacom on Sunday evening, I assume it was also made by an autoresponder because their offices are closed on a Sunday after 13h00.

Look at all the responses of Vodacom on hellopeter, they are all the same and just as untrue as all the promises Vodacom made to come back to me. I had to call another 2 times on Monday and still only 30% of my problem has been dealt with.

Vodacom makes a hell of a lot of money in South Africa, but they have no respect for their clients. They will come back to me??? 50 times I have heard the same song, and guess what? Not a single soul came back to me after 8 weeks of complaints.

Obviously the big companies do not even take hellopeter seriously.

Interesting,

I have asked Vodacom to contact me. The previous response was that an agent will come back to me. Up till now, this has not happened. The only person who tried to communicate was me, waiting for somebody to answer.

The problem, explained here above, has not been dealt with. My record still shows that I am in arrears as if I made the mistake. My wish was that Vodacom should contact me about this and explain to me why I am penelised for their mistake.

From the beginning I asked to speak to someone other than a call-center agent that can only reflect the ten rules for business as usual. As I said in my first post, is this the way you deal with loyal customers that has been with you for 23 years?

You have done nothing about this. I had to call you another 10 times and you have not responded to the e-mail I sent almost 2 months back. So clearly your service still stinks.

PS: Vodacom calls every other number of my children, employees, and pets, but they do not call me. I am the main contract holder and nobody else. ***
