Is this a **** or Vodacom behaving *********ly?
In March Lydia Fakude took a call from Tebogo, claiming to be from Vodacom, telling her she could get a free cellphone, no costs/contract, because she'd recently taken out a Vodacom contract. I phoned Tebogo on Lydia's behalf to confirm no costs/contracts. Lydia accepted the offer, 2 men delivered the cellphone, requesting a copy of mine & Lydia's ID & employment confirmation letter. No other info was given to them. The phone was very basic, Lydia didnt want it, they fetched it. Then Lydia got a sms from Vodacom: new line registered to her acc *** for a uChoose Flexi100 & *** activated. The sms stated: dial 082111 for queries, contact *** & ***. Vodacom deducted R300 from her bank acc. She went to Vodacom Sandton to query & was told that Vodacom is aware of 'these people doing this' but that they are not related to Vodacom. Lydia was told to go to the bank to reverse the transaction, which it did. She was also told it's likely to happen 2-3 more times. What's going on Vodacom?!
