Invalid Dispute (Contract received not as advised by consultant)
Like many other reviewees, I've been a Vodacom customer for more than 20years (contract). My contract was due for an upgrade and a consultant called me to offer me an upgrade. He advised my subscription will be reduced to R279, I'd get 2 Gigs of data and 200 minutes. My previous contract was 1 Gig and 100 minutes. It was a SIM only deal which I'm fine with as I've no issues with my device. Obviously I thought it was a good deal and agreed to it. When I received my bill, the amount on the invoice was R298.99. I further discovered the 2 Gigs was not anytime data, but 1 Gig day and 1 Gig night - not explained. Also on the invoice was an amount for Contract Cover Plus which I did not agree to & VAS. I called in twice. Once to have the contract reversed and then again to dispute the contract as what I received was not what was advised I'd be getting. The call had to be investigated before any action could be taken (if I wanted to listen to the call, I had to physically go into a Vodacom store)
There is a 14 day cooling off period if I decide I did not want the contract. The catch is I'd only receive feedback after the 14days. I took the risk and asked them to listen to call. A consultant called a few days later to tell me my dispute was invalid because the consultant who called to upgrade my contract, had informed me the subscription amount of R279 does not include VAS. Are you kidding me? What about the fact that I was not informed the 2Gigs I'd be receiving was 1 Gig day & 1 Gig night? What about informing me that the VAS amount of R8.69 should be added to the R279. Therefore my monthly subscription would not be R279 What about asking me if I wanted contract cover for my contract, which I do not. Why was it added? Why was I not informed of these amounts?
How can 1 issue out of the whole investigation/query make my dispute invalid? Vodacom is giving me a contract that I did not agree to nor was it fully explained to me. They make it difficult to prove them wrong as I have to physically go into a store to listen to the call and should I wish to cancel this contract, I'd be in breach of contract would incurs fees.
********* and unfair
