insurance wont pay out

I went in for an upgrade on my contract I took a Sony m2 aqua.I specifically ask the consultant Imtiyaaz if I can use my prepaid Sim card in the device that I'm insuring . He said yes but my warantee will fall away but if I use any vodacom simcard my device will still be insured for lost and Damagers ...Then I lost my phone and I put in a claim for it Vodacom then told me that they can't cover me for the lost phone coz my contract simcard was not in the phone wen the phone was lost.. I went back to vodacom vangate mall to quiery this situation I spoke to Faried . told him the story and he said he will find out by the consultant... he never did when I went back to the store a few weeks later both of them was working so we sat down and discuss the matter. Imtiyaaz admit that he told me I could use any simcard as he thought it is so and insurance will cover faried told him it doesn't work like that contract sim card must be in the device. Faried then told me he would take matters further.a month later I went back asking him whats gonna happen and should I cancel my insurance . He asked if nobody phoned me yet and I must not cancel my insurance.And just said theres nothing they can do
