Insurance struggle

I bought my phone (samsung galaxy S6) on contract at a Vodacom shop at east rand mall in September 2015. The consultant that assisted me is named Lerato.

I requested insurance coverage for the phone and she let me fill in the form for it and sign a contract with vodacom for insurance.

I went on to lose my phone through a mugging 3 months back. I went straight to the vodacom store with my contract and requested that they assist me in paying an excess fee and getting a new handset as the phone was insured.

They then told me that they could not find the phone on their insurance list and that a fault must have happened with the filing of my contract and told me I have to pay an amount of R4800 in back payments for insurance and an excess fee should the insurance agree to this after they have spoken to them, they said they would contact me with news. They did not contact me for days and I went back to the store to find out what was happening, the manager said he would call the insurance and get back to me. I waited for his call and he never called. I called the number he had given me for a regional manager and he said he is on leave and he cannot assist me. I made turns visiting the shop and never got assistance from the manager nor the consultant. I have tried to phone and get a hold of someone who can assist me but no one has bothered to try help me effectively. I am in awe of the treatment I have received and have now paid 3 installments for a handset I no longer have. This kind of treatment can't be accepted.
