INSURANCE ****!!: VODACOM/FINRITE
I am unhappy and greatly inconvenienced with the service received from Vodacom (Finrite) for my insurance claim. I insured a Huawei P10 lite with them in 2017 and in 2019 I upgraded to a Huawei P30 lite and did not upgrade the insurance because I wanted to keep it for the P10 lite and insure the P30 elsewhere. My P10 got damaged and I took it in for repairs. I was then told by Neo at Finrite that my my claim is rejected because the insured device was a P30 and not a P10. She told me that the system automatically upgrades the device from the old one to the new one and that I should provide her with proof that I didn't want insurance on the new one. She insisted that she wants proof that I wanted the insurance to remain on the old device mind you to upgrade insurance, one has to fill in a form to that effect. I did not give Vodacom authorization to update my insured device to a new one but they did it anyways.
In addition to that, this automatic upgrade by the system still under-insured my new device therefore even if I were to claim for it I would not be fully compensated and also due to the fact that the cell phone number insured was not used in it but in the P10.
Basically this means that I have been paying insurance for nothing. I cant claim for the P10 cause it was automatically removed when I upgraded my contract without my authorization, as mentioned by Neo and I cant also claim for the P30 if I wanted to because the number that has been used in it was not the contract number.
I feel this is wrong of VODACOM/FINRITE to do this and frankly I am going to cancel my contract with them and also advise my friends & family to do the same. All I need is to have my P10 phone REPAIRED OR REPLACED for the same value of premiums I have been paying all these years and have the P30 removed from the insurance!!.
