Inefficient service resulting in exorbitant fees

As everyone is aware Vodacom is a more expensive service provider than MTN and when I questioned the pricing i was told that they were more expensive since their service was better.... LOL!!

After much comparison of prices, i decided to port my number from Vodacom to MTN since i was getting more data and more airtime with MTN at a cost much lower than Vodacom.

I called the Vodacom Call Centre and was advised that i needed to provide Vodacom with a month cancellation period and needed to call back on the 25th of April which i dutifully did and requested that my number be ported to MTN. i was advised that my contract will end on the 31st of May and i will have no service on the 31st and thereafter the contract will be on prepaid.

Come the 31st of May I had no cell phone service and I received a sms on the 1st of June advising that my cell number migration to Prepaid was successful. I loaded airtime and noticed that my whatsapp was not working and was advised that I needed to load data so I bought data bundle and everything seemed to be fine. I contacted MTN and requested that my number be ported to them.

And this is when my woes began !!! MTN app**** for the port on the 2nd of June and I received a sms on the 4th of June advising that the port request was received and was being processed. On the 5th of June I received a sms advising that the port request was declined and I needed to contact my service provider. I contacted Vodacom on the 6th of June and was advised to call ********** 326 which I did. The Vodacom representative was not very helpful and advised that MTN will need to send the port request again which was done on the 6th of June. Once again I received the same 2 sms’ which was the progress and declined one. I tweeted Vodacom on the 6th of June requesting for assistance. I received a call from the Social Media desk and they advised that it will be escalated and it could take up to 7 days to be resolved. How difficult is it to port a prepaid number from Vodacom to MTN?? Let me tell you... extremely frustrating!!!

I called Vodacom again on the 7th of June and I was advised by Warren, the Vodacom representative, that I received the 2 sms for porting progress and decline however I am not receiving the sms to approve the port which I learnt that I should have received. Warren advised that he could see on his system that the approval sms is not being sent to me and the problem seems to be unique to my cell number. So I am receiving sms but just not the approval sms?? I was told that Vodacom is investigating the matter and it could take a while. I require my cell for business purposes and this inconvenience was really frustrating me. I tweeted again on the 8th of June and finally received service from Randall who updated me on my matter. He further escalated the matter as urgent and assured me that he was doing everything to resolve the issue.

I was given a number ********** 000 to call however I used up all my airtime just holding on for someone to answer. I held on for 30 minutes without talking to an agent.

To add to my frustrations, I now receive a bill from Vodacom for data usage amounting to R3703.08 and calls R2.76 amounting to R3706.76. How is this when I was on prepaid???

My monthly contract bill is normally about R568.50 and nothing more so how can I now rake a bill of R3706.76 when my contract ended on 31st May 2016.

I called again on the 9th of June and was advised that the matter was resolved and my number has now been released by Vodacom. Had my number been released from the beginning I would not have received such a bill and furthermore I cannot understand why I would receive such a bill if I was on prepaid services.

In every instance I have been following up with Vodacom except for Randall who called me but nobody bothered to call me to advise me that the matter was resolved. Shocking service.

Vodacom processed my bill for R3706 which i returned and now i receive a bill for R3806 since they charged me R100 for returning the debit order.

All attempts in obtaining a response from Vodacom have failed and the Customer Services Centre advised that they do not deal with complaints since the unfriendly Vodacom portal is to be used for complaints however no body bothers to respond on this portal.....

MTN has attempted on 5 occasions to port my number and have failed in all 5 instances.

Kindly note that I will not be paying for the bill attached since the bill is due to your inefficiencies and system problems.
