Increased subscriptions in mid-contract

Vodacom have sent out messages informing subscribers, me included, of subscription fee increases in mid-contract. Not only do I doubt that this is contractually legal, but it is really bad business. Posts to the Vodacom Facebook page (many), have not yet received any response from Vodacom.
