Increase in monthly contract not just a VAT increase
I have raised a query with Vodacom as to why 2 of my Cell phone contracts monthly fee were increased in May 2018. Feedback is that clause 5.8 in the client agreement makes provision for this. So you take out a 24 month contract and the monthly contract amount can be changed at any stage. Very convenient that this is done in the same month as the VAT changes. It just seems ********* and done in such a way that some customers will think that the increase is due to VAT and so Vodacom increases its revenue - strongly considering moving to a provider that is seemingly more ethical.......

Dear Customer
For more than 20 years, Vodacom has worked to increase the speed, quality and breadth of mobile coverage in South Africa. At the same time, we’ve focused on making our services better, faster and more affordable despite the effect of inflation on our costs. Even with our cost reduction efforts, market conditions have made it necessary for us to increase prices on some of our products to ensure that we can continue to provide the best network experience in South Africa.
Please refer to our terms and conditions on http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/contract-terms-and-conditions as the above changes are covered in point 5.8:
5.8. The charges levied by Vodacom may vary from time to time and Vodacom shall provide you with at least 20 (twenty) business days notice of such variations before they take effect. You shall be bound to pay such varied charges with effect from the date of publication thereof by either Vodacom and/or Vodacom unless you exercise your right of termination as provided for in this Agreement).
