Increase in debit order amounts of vodacom are *******
It is that time of the year again where vodacom *******ly increases clients tarriffs under contract. My debit order went up again by R100, even though I am under contract. According to the National Credit Act.. there cannot be any hidden fees in contracts and all increases need to be explained at contract signing. Vodacom now says that they are increasing their tariffs due to inflation. According to the NCA it is ******* to increase customer debit orders on contracts, even if there if inflation or no inflation. No debit orders can change when under contract, for that is a set amount determined as per contract.

15 Mar 2025, 10:18Query wasnt resolved. During the call vodacom only focused on the legal aspect that allows them to increase fees, but ignore that law regarding the increase of fees. The keep hammering on they have the legal right to increase fees, but forget that the national credit act requires all fees to be declared at signing stage. Any fees that are not declared are considered hidden fees.. and hidden fees are prohibited by law in south africa. This means that if you dont sign for the increase amounts at contract signing, the increase of fees will be outside south african law and Vodacom is therefor breaking the law by increasing the client debit orders each year. None of their increases are declared on paper at contract signing. The amounts are not stipulated and therefor outside south african law. IF you dont sign for the increase amounts at contract stage, Vodacom is not allowed to increase your monthly debit order on a yearly basis.
