Increase in contract prices
I signed a 24 month contract on the 27/07/2017 and the agreed amount to be debited from my account was R377.50, which was what I could afford! All went well but suddenly in April 2018 my bank account was debited R385.71. Now, at the end of May my charges have gone up to R432.72 and I am furious. I was initially told it was the VAT increase but according to my invoice my "Comp Cell Insurance" has gone up from R95.61 to R100 and "SMART TOP UP S + Line Rental" increased from R245.22 to R286.09. My vodacom App on my phone still showing "Bill so far" R377.51. How can a contract be changed this way? IS THIS REMOTELY LEGAL????

Dear Customer
For more than 20 years, Vodacom has worked to increase the speed, quality and breadth of mobile coverage in South Africa. At the same time, we’ve focused on making our services better, faster and more affordable despite the effect of inflation on our costs. Even with our cost reduction efforts, market conditions have made it necessary for us to increase prices on some of our products to ensure that we can continue to provide the best network experience in South Africa.
Please refer to our terms and conditions on http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/contract-terms-and-conditions as the above changes are covered in point 5.8:
5.8. The charges levied by Vodacom may vary from time to time and Vodacom shall provide you with at least 20 (twenty) business days notice of such variations before they take effect. You shall be bound to pay such varied charges with effect from the date of publication thereof by either Vodacom and/or Vodacom unless you exercise your right of termination as provided for in this Agreement).
