Incorrect Credit Report Entry

I am writing to formally dispute an incorrect and damaging entry on my credit report indicating a missed payment for July 2025. This entry is entirely false and is causing serious and unjust harm to my credit score.

On Sunday, I personally engaged with Vodacom customer service. After a thorough review of my account, your representatives confirmed that I owe no outstanding amounts. My contract was cancelled in July, and the final balance of R1000.97 was paid in full on the same day, processed by Lindiwe Nene under service request ***, which was closed on 24 July 2025.

Yet, on 8 August, I received a bill stating I owe Vodacom R2.39 for a contract that was already cancelled. This payment was allegedly due by 31 July. How can a payment be due before the statement was even issued, which I only received on 8 August? This makes absolutely no sense.

Despite these facts, Experian has listed me as having missed a payment of R2.39 in July. This is not only inaccurate but completely unacceptable and unfair.

I have attempted to resolve this directly with Experian, but they refuse to update my record unless Vodacom provides a formal letter stating that my contract was fully paid and that I have never been in arrears. Furthermore, Vodacom must send an official instruction to Experian to update my account information. This requires both the cancellation/paid-up letter and a clear statement confirming that my account was never in arrears, which is the only way for the dispute to be logged and resolved.

What is utterly frustrating is the level of incompetence I have encountered while trying to resolve this with Vodacom. I have spent over two hours being passed from one department to another, with no one taking ownership. Billing claims it’s not their problem and directs me to cancellations; cancellations then says it’s a customer service issue, who then wash their hands of it entirely. This runaround is unacceptable and demonstrates a complete lack of accountability — all while my credit score suffers due to what appears to be careless and negligent handling of my account information.

I am demanding immediate action from Vodacom’s accounts department:

Send the formal instruction to Experian to correct my credit report without further delay.

Provide me with written confirmation that my account was never in arrears and that the contract was fully settled.

Supply me with the file number or reference for the dispute submitted to Experian so I can follow up if needed.

I expect this issue to be fully resolved by close of business today. Should Vodacom fail to rectify this promptly, I will be forced to escalate the matter legally without further notice.

Can someone please answer the phone or call me back? I’ve already wasted over two hours stuck on hold, listening to the same boring music on repeat. This is seriously unacceptable.

What exactly does “due course” mean? I don’t want some robotic, copy-paste answer. Be clear and give me a straight timeline.
