Incorrect Contract Additions and Changes Without Consent Awaiting Refund

Following a few years of being on a 4GB sim-only contract with Vodacom, I contacted the contract cancelations department on 31 March 2024 to give notice to cancel my contract on by end of April 2024. Following conversation with the consultant, the advised me to rather move to a package which would keep my contract active, providing me with 50 minutes for ZAR30.00 per month, which I agreed to and didn't receive further contact from Vodacom.

At the end of April, I noticed that I was charged for my old contract to the value of ZAR658.00 as well as an additional charge for ZAR30.00 for the new contract I was supposed to be on. I have since noticed that I was charged ZAR30.00 in March 2024, April 2024 and May 2024 even though I have not successfully been moved to this package.

Subsequently, I have contacted Vodacom several times to get information about why the contract was not cancelled and why I had not been moved to the ZAR30.00 package, as well as requesting a refund for the amount charged that I should not have been charged for. The consultant assured me that they were logging all the queries and that it would be sorted, however, a month later, things are in a worse mess than it was to start with.

I received a quotation for a new contract which I was specifically assured telephonically would not be a new 24 month contract. However, Vodacom has now put me on a new 24 month contract, which I insisted I did not want!

The reason for wanting to move over to the ZAR30.00 package was to keep my contract active until such a time I was ready to upgrade, but this whole experience has left such a bitter taste in my mouth, I am considering leaving Vodacom completely.

I expect to get a full refund for the charges I have received from March 2024 for packages not correctly allocated, failure to cancel previous packages as well as charges I have now received when being placed on a new contract which I specifically requested not to be on.
