Incorrect billing and no service.

Incorrect billing and no service.

I had a 24 month cellphone and top up contract with Vodacom which I paid R637.50 for every month (excluding a R99.00 3G contract which I had already cancelled Dec 2016).

Early this year I contacted Vodacom (Around Feb/March) to cancel the contract because I could no longer afford it. I was trying to cut back expenses and the 24 month term was up effective from April.

The consultant who assisted me with the cancellation did a client retention and offered me a R200.00 top up option, so no phone etc just Vodacom putting airtime/sms’s/data into my phone every month and paying for it – he called it a conversion. However, Vodacom didn’t cancel properly. I called in about 2 times after that to keep on re-cancelling the old contract.

Secondly, the contract originally incepted in the month of April 2015 – 24 months is until end of March 2017. Somehow Vodacom is now saying they are billing me until April 2017…so my May statement is for April 2017… wouldn’t that be 25 months? 24 months ends in MARCH not April.

Next, there have been no monthly statements or billing for June 17, July 17, August 17 and September 2017. Then all of a sudden I get billed R685.08 in Oct, R478.49 in November and R478.49 again in December. Even if I take my old contract (which it shouldn’t be because I cancelled that one) and minus the Insurance and Handset charge it comes up to R240.39 – why doesn’t the statement reflect the true charges?

Sometime I Sep 2017 I got a letter saying capital outstanding R664.23 payable immediately. I paid it but I didn't understand how the balance of subscriptions on this statement came to R10 511.61 - even if I had agreed to a R240.00 per month top up with no phone including vat etc it would've been about R5760 as a settlement figure - I queried this with the collections department the consultant who I dealt with couldn't explain it either. No one explain anything to me when I call or they call.. imagine how frustrated i must be if no one at Vodacom understands anything related to accounting.

Someone please tell me what is going on from start to finish. I want the voice recordings from early this year around Feb and March 2017 too please so I can see what I agreed to because at this stage I cannot even remember what day the conversations happened and also when I attempted to cancel my old contract numerous times.

The worst part is this same number sim card was ****** around July this year in an armed ******* and I have not been able to do a sim swap because of outstanding charges. – So I have paid but received nothing. And no real answer for almost a year now.

Please can someone just explain everything to me properly from start to finish from when I received my notification to upgrade my existing contract last year to this mess now. How did this happen and does Vodacom actually know what is going on with my account.
