INCOMPONENT STAFF AND AFFORDABLITY CRITERIA THAT MAKES NO BUSINESS SENSE
I have cellphone contracts with MTN and CELL C. I want to move my business contract to Vodacom. I have been unable to do so because of Vodacom policies that are outdated and make no economic sense. I am unable to contact a regional manager for the KZN region nor am I able to make contact with a national sales manager as consultants at the store refuse to give me the contact number. Why are these people in authority inaccessible? I app**** for a new line business contract 30 days ago telephonically through a franchise in Pietermaritzburg. The contract was declined due to Vodacom affordability criteria app**** by the Vodacom credit department. I was advised by the agent that I needed to wait and re-do the application after 3 months. I was dissatisfied with this as the reason given did not make any sense. I went in personally to a store in Ballito Junction Regional Mall. The consultant completed the application and I was advised that the application was declined due to affordability criteria not being met. From my understanding the criteria is based on the bank balance at the end of the month. I am a qualified chartered accountant and run a successful accounting, auditing and tax practice. I am the sole member of the business. When clients pay into the account I transfer the funds to my investment account as the current account earns no interest whereas the investment account does. I maintain a minimum balance in the current account. The affordability criteria app**** by Vodacom makes no sense, as how can the affordability be based on the balance at month end in a business account. The logic thus app**** is as follows, if a business takes an overdraft then the business can afford the contract as there are funds at month end. Remember, this is borrowed money that does not belong to the business but is taken to be business money by Vodacom when doing their assessment. How does this even begin to make sense? I have even given the consultant my investment account which clearly shows the transfer of funds from the business current account to my investment account. I have also given my personal current account which shows my other sources of income. I have signed surety for this contract and this does not satisfy the Vodacom credit department, this really questions the competence of this department. I have notified the consultant that I am prepared to pay for the 24 month contract upfront on day one and still no positive feedback has been received. If funds are received upfront, how is there a loss to Vodacom? The time value of money concept when app****, i.e. money taken upfront is worth more than when received over a 2 year period. Does Vodacom not want to grow its client base? Does Vodacom have too many clients that it can’t service new clients? Like I have said at the outset, I am unable to contact any of the regional or national managers. A prompt response would be appreciated.
