Incompetence by Vodacom Insurance!
I currently have a running cellphone insurance with Vodacom so when I dropped my phone, I took it in for repairs on 23rd September and decided to buy a new device immediately because I couldn’t be without a phone.
I bought the phone cash at iStore and immediately after the purchase, I went to Vodacom to insure my new device. I filled in the form, and I asked if I could apply for insurance with the same number that’s already insured and the consultant said Yes, because Vodacom insures the device and not the cellphone number (I didn’t mind getting a new number but said it wasn’t necessary).
I called Vodacom on 25th September to check the progress of the application and I was told that I was only insured for my old phone (iPhone 7) and they haven’t received the forms for the new application yet.
I called Vodacom again today, and I was told that I cannot apply for insurance with the same number that’s already insured AFTER I WAS TOLD TO DO SO BY THE CONSULTANT AT THE STORE! I was also told that in order for you to insure your device with Vodacom, it has to be 7 days old. Now, I bought my phone on the 23rd and app**** for insurance on the SAME DAY but the insurance clearly wasn’t processed so now I can no longer insure my device when I did everything I was supposed to do ON TIME?
This is very upsetting and I will cancel my already existing insurance with Vodacom if they don’t fix this! It is not my fault that your consultants are *********** and don’t know their job! I did everything I was supposed to do, as I was told by Lee at Vodacom Cresta only to find that he doesn’t know what he was doing and now I have to suffer? Absolutely disgusting!
Now, I just got a message from Vodacom that R367,74 will be debited from my account for my insurance and I am confused ONCE AGAIN because I clearly marked “premium band 7” as I had been advised by Lance Gurling initially and Mercy Sadiki later, therefore the insurance should be R200. I was asked to attach a copy of the Receipt of purchase which had clearly indicated that the phone was purchased for R12 500 which meant that Premium Band 7 was the most suitable for my insurance.
I am so tired of dealing with this issue. If you can’t get it right, please let me know so that I can cancel the whole thing altogether. I’ve been going up and down with Vodacom since the 23rd of September and I’m tired of it now. I will insure my device with another insurer!
