Incompetence at the Vodashop
Vodacom insurance is great, but their service at the Vodashps can turn out a nightmare when they lie to you. My phone was recently ****** while I had a car breakdown in a busy street in Mthatha. After realization that my phone was ******, I quickly went to the Mthatha Madeira Vodashop to report the matter and get another phone. The request went well, the phone was replaced with a different phone since they did not have stock of my insured phone. I asked frankly before I took the other phone whether it was capable of the same performance as my ****** phone. I was guaranteed it is on the same level as my previous phone. I saw not point of not taking the phone that was available with the same spec. That very same night I hooked my phone to my PC as I use it as a hotspot or USB tethering to do my business needs. I realized the connection was extremely slow and cutting more frequently that what I was used to. I tried it after midnight also to ensure it was not network congestion. No luck there also, I updated my firmware to the latest built, but still no progress. The network was unbearably slow, since I’m an electronics technologist myself, I figured the antennas of the devices are very different. The device I was given has a very poor antenna comparing to the original device. The following morning I phoned the Vodashop and told them my issue and I cannot use this device since it’s not serving the purpose, I need the same device that was insured. Firstly the manager Okuhle of the shop refused and gave me an attitude that, I accepted and signed for the device so I would have to suck it up for three years. This annoyed me because I asked them not to give me a mobicel or anything like that. This woman told me that I got to be real! Vodacom can’t stoop so low, so I trusted them and took the Honor X6, the original phone was Huawei Nova Y61. The AP band for both phones is 2.4 GHz both 4G phones, but Honor X6 is of poor quality. I phoned Vodacom insurance at *** and they told me I should have been given the exact phone that was insured, that is what was authorized, I must go to the shop and ask for the correct phone. I phone Okuhle manager of the Vodashop and tell her what the insurance is saying. She said she would escalate the matter to the directors… so I’m, still waiting.

The lady who assisted me was called to come and collect the device to the technician. After a few minutes the sales lady came back and said the device has a DEEP scratch on the rear camera cover! This was film-flam to me because I have not used camera or dropped it. They showed me a vague starch that you cannot see unless someone it’s shows it to you under a fluorescent light.
I knew deep down that I was being bull****ted, tested and fooled. I told the person who was assisting me that it's my first time to see that scratch and there is no ways I could have seen it anyway on the day of issue. Even now you would not see it unless someone shows it to you under a very bright light, QS in any firm could pass that device. To me this was clearly something to fool.
The technician was called to come and show me the scratch, he was very hesitant to come but eventually he came to the office. Inside I was fuming with anger knowing that I received the device two days ago as it was. I tried to be cool, calm and collected, The scratch was obviously there when I received the device or made intentionally to avoid giving me the correct device.
I was given the managers email address dealership owner Judy Jennings and another manager Sizwe Tantsi and advised to mail them quickly. I took the phone and rushed to the nearby internet cafe to send emails.
They have not gotten back to me yet… and time is running since my business deals with data connections. There after I phoned Huawei which I discovered was the same as Honor was the same to ask whether they put a sealant plastic on the camera for their brand new devices, and they did not confirm either way. But what I’m sure of is that I returned the phone the way as it was given to me. I also phoned Vodacom insurance about the issue and they confirmed I should have been replaced with the insured make and model of the phone. It is the shop that gave me the wrong device as Vodacom insurance explained to me.
What I want from the dealership is the Huawei phone that was initially given to me and insured as I cannot use this Honor X5 with a very poor antenna. It does not work as the Huawei nova Y61 with a decent antenna. I use Kali Linux to test these device capabilities and Honor X6 is definitely not on the same range as Huawei. The manager at the Vodacom told me Vodacom Networking department is aware of the issue, they were in Mthatha to resolve the network problem and they were looking for my address. What I need is the Huawei nova Y10 that was the original device I choose... I need this asps because my business has yet halted due to this!
