Incompatible 5G sim & Router

Took out a 5G sim package with a router that was apparently not compatible with the sim. It worked horribly for 2 months and then just stopped working 3 weeks ago. Despite numerous references, network guys said all is ok and I was referred to the store. I reluctantly went back to Killarney Mall Store as the contract was take with them. The Neanderthal (Noel) who is the manager had the audacity to tell me that I was using the wrong router for a 5G sim and I simply retorted with I wonder which smart shop gave it to me and of course lights out because the 1 neurone that was firing suddenly went into load shedding. He refused to replace the sim & or router because he did not know what I had done to the sim as it was damaged. I left the shop and called Vodacom and was told that there was nothing they could do as the deal was done at the store….amazing. I left the faulty router/sim with the store and no assistance whatsoever from Vodacom H/O. Been with Vodacom for over 20yrs & have 8 contracts. The network Companies are unfortunately all the same & know that consumers have little to no choice because of the structure of the telecoms market in SA. Only option is to cancel my contracts 1 by 1 and I am already 2 contracts down. Don’t expect any resolution from Vodacom nor for them to be bothered by this unhappy single customer whose spend with them is minuscule. All this would simply be resolved by the store giving me a new sim and the “correct” router so I can leave them alone but No.

Dear Customer,  Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation.  Please be advised that we have escalated your query to the store cluster specialist. Based on the feedback provided the team has confirmed the following.

Kindly note customer wanted a free sim card as we had matched his sim card to the system and noticed that it did correspond and thereafter tested the sim in another device and we tested the router as well which was working fine ,we then discovered that the sim was damaged and no long working we advised the customer he needs to do a sim swop which will be a R64 charge in which he refused to pay and demanded the sim for free.  The customer just dumped the router and the faulty sim at the store. With thus said, the store confirmed the tested the router using a different simcard and it works perfectly and unfortunately a fee is applicable when doing a replacement simcard.

Best regards,

Amazing how Vodacom will not follow up with me but just take 1 side of the story.
The reason the sim was damaged as given by your Neanderthal Manager was because I was using it in the wrong router. Again who gave me the router and the sim when I took out the contract? If the sim is damaged as a result and a new compatible sim with the router is required, why should I pay for the sim? I’m sure you believe your own lies to rest your consciences that you “investigated” the matter and the customer is wrong…Does it make sense that I would refuse to buy a R65 sim if I was wrong or damaged it instead of paying a monthly subscription for which I get no benefit right now as I don’t have use of the package; and that I spend over R5000 per month on all my contracts? Clearly you fail to think or thinking is just beyond whatever lays between your collective ears and your response just proves that. It may take me a while but this will the R65 that will break my relationship with Vodacom
