Impossible to cancel a Vodacom account (after its contract duration)

Almost impossible to cancel a vodacom account even though it has long passed the contract period. Tried to call twice and both times cut off just before the cancellation stage, directly messaged vodacom on twitter. Sent an email to an address that was given by vodacom on twitter to someone else trying to cancel but had an invalid address response, Search on twitter for vodacom cancellation and you will just find many many customers with the same complaint.
