Impossible to cancel a contract with Vodacom

In November 2017 I decided to cancel my one Vodacom contract. I struggled to get hold of someone to get a settlement quote. Only after I logged a complaint through Hello Peter, they gave me a settlement quote. On the 25th I made the payment and emailed the proof of payment as requested to ********** I never received confirmation from them, only that I still owe them an outstanding amount. I once again sent them an email that payment was made to settle and close the account. On the 27th I received an sms saying that if I want to keep my Vodacom number, I should settle arrears account. I visited the Vodacom shop in Witbank and asked if the account is still open, they confirmed. I requested to use their phone to contact Vodacom, as I no longer have a Vodacom number to phone from and they said, sorry, they cant assist. I tried several times the contact centre and never got through. But hey, I paid the settlement as they requested and asked them to cancel the contract, so why should I worry?! Today, I got a sms from an attorney stating that Garnish order will be delivered to my employer. I phone the lady, spoke to Trudie, and she said that on the quote, I agreed that any amounts accumulated after the settlement payment is made, is still my responsibility. So, MY QUESTION IS: WHY DID VODACOM NOT TELL ME THIS??? AND WHAT IS THESE COSTS FOR? No statement was sent to me, nobody phoned me to tell me listen, we can't cancel the contract because there is still an amount due on your account? They received the email from me requesting cancellation, so if they really wanted to, they could have rep**** to my email saying that there is a payment due. AND HOW CAN YOU GIVE ME A SETTLEMENT FIGURE BUT NOT TELL ME THAT THERE WILL BE ANOTHER AMOUNT DUE END OF THE MONTH FOR WHAT EVER DAMN REASON?! I regard this as not treating the client fairly according to the National Credit Act.
