I have been with Vodacom for 15 years and been doing upgrades as allowed every 2 years between 1 and 3 November. This year I upgraded on 3 November and a week later I got the new Vodacom invoice and saw that there deducting TWO handsets. I went back to Vodacom shop and I was told it was wrong and they then send in a enquiry for Vodacom head office to correct this. A day later I got an sms saying that I have to pay it. Then I went back to the Vodacom shop and again I was told that this was wrong and they lodged another complaint for me. Again a day later I was phoned by Vodacom head office and was told that when I upgrade I still have to also pay for the old phone for the first month. This was the first time in 15 years that this happened to me and it does not make sense why I am allowed to upgrade but then have to pay for 2 handsets. So I ask for a manager to phone me. Today a manager, Ruben, phoned me to tell me I have to pay it. He said that if I upgraded on the 4th then I would not have needed to pay for both phones. I again also told him that this cannot be legal. I told him that since Vodacom rules changed, then I should have been told by the person in Vodacom on the 3rd that should I upgrade today, I would have to pay for two handsets. BUT, even if they did say this, which they did not, it still cannot be legal. How can Vodacom allow me to upgrade and then charge me for both phones without even telling me they going to do it. If I knew this, I would not have upgraded at all with Vodacom. Also, end of October I paid for the handset for November, now on 3 November I have a new upgraded handset, but yet at end of November I have to still pay for the old handset. This cannot be legal. I have tried numerous times to solve this issue but Vodacom shows no interest to sort out THEIR mess and it is for this reason that I am now taking this further. I want this to be investigated and if I don’t get that handset amount removed from my account in the next 48 hours, I will be putting up a banner over the N1 in Cape Town, showing Cape Town and South Africa how Vodacom *****s peoples money. I will also advertise this on all social media channels, paying for advertising on Facebook and Google. It is time that Vodacom’s poor service is made public. So Vodacom, I expect your CEO to contact me in 48 hours. Thank you. Also, how can you call my new PHONE I upgraded a 3G Tablet if this is a Huawei P20 Lite.
