If you want Fibre use anyone BUT Vodacom

I have always heard of people receiving bad service from Vodacom but counted myself lucky that I was never on the receiving end until now.

We app**** for a Fibre installation to be linked to our house two weeks before we intended to move in as both our jobs require internet access. The fibre line was quickly done by Metro Fibre and considering all the options we decided on Vodacom as the service provider as we've been loyal mobile clients of theirs for years. BIG MISTAKE!

First off, after completing all the necessary paper work we were satisfied that everything will run smoothly. I did not. Firstly Vodacom together with the courier company decided to deliver our router without ever informing us. Obviously no one was home (we hadn't moved in yet) and despite me rushing to the house the courier left. We immediately notified all parties of this. A week later and no attempt was made to a) deliver the router again or b) change the delivery address. We thus decided to just wait it out and use our own router.

Upon moving in we realised that this was not possible and were told by Vodacom that only their router could be used as it is a PLUG AND PLAY system. This was on the Saturday. On Monday at 8:00 my husband phoned Vodacom who said that they were sorry about the inconvenience and would sort out the issue and revert asap. At 12:00 my husband phoned again to be told that nothing could be done at this point as Vodacom had no way of keeping in contact with the couriers and if he wanted the problem solved he should have phoned earlier (which we did, twice!).

I'll skip all the phone calls in between because we basically spent an entire day phoning and asking for assistance only to be told nothing could be done. FInally my husband got hold of the couriers who agreed that we could spend our own time and petrol to collect the router (which was quite far from our residence). My husband did this because at this point the situation had become desperate and we were just going to sort it out ourselves.

Surprise surprise after collecting the router we are told oh actually it is not plug and play and it needs to be connected, however this can be done remotely and that it will be done ASAP. We are now 18 hours out and once again nothing has been done. We are losing work hours, time and even airtime (which is ironically from Vodacom) and we are no closer to solving this problem. I highly recommend going with any other service provider if you are in a similar situation.
