If Vodacom had a face I would punch it.

So it 10 months later. Still not resolved. This will be my last attempt to get Vodacom to sort this out from their side before I proceed with legal action against Vodacom. 16-12-2019 I went into the Vodacom shop at Walmer shopping centre in PE to inquire how many months I have left on my one and only Vodacom contract. I did not have the contract anymore and could not access the Vodacom app due it not working. The main reason I went into the shop was to inquire about my account. The consultant confirmed that my contract has run it course and if I want to cancell it will be with immediate effect. I had a witness with me and I am sure that Vodacom can access my acount to see that someone did login and viewed my profile on that day. This employee of Vodacom is the culprit. This person's negligent actions has caused massive problems for myself to date. My only mistake was taking this consultants word and not asking for something writing. After this meeting with the Vodacom con****ant I went over to Telkom and ported my number over to Telkom and enterred into a new agreement with them. Telkom confirmed that this will also automatically cancel my Vodacom number when it is ported over to Telkom. As of 17-12-2020 I did not have an active Vodacom number. I was aware that at the end of December 2019 there will still be a debit order deducted from Vodacom for the usage for the part of December I still was with Vodacom. Then at the end of January 2020 another debit order was deducted from account by Vodacom. I immediately phoned Vodacom numerous times without success. I also emailed Vodacom a numerous times without feedback. No feedback was received. I therefor reversed the debit from Vodcom at my bank. The next month another debit was deducted. I attempted to contact Vodacom numerous times again without success. I once agian reversed the debit order and also stopped future debit orders. I will not allow Vodacom to do as they want with my bank account. With each mail I confirmed that if there are some monies outstanding they can let me know in writing and will pay for such. No feedback. Only after a few months the legal department contacted me to collect "their" money. I explained the situation more times than I can count. I infomed them that I am willing to pay for any outstanding amounts on the device itself as I understand that the Vodacom consultant that told me I could cancell with immediate effect made a mistake and this happens BUT I am not going to pay for any network services since 17-12-2019 as I did not have an active Vodacom number since that date. No one was able to help me. I then started with the process of applying for a home loan. Due to the "defualt" on payments my credit history was damaged. Again I attempted to contact Vodacom so that we can sort this out. Again I confirmed that I want to pay oustanding amounts on the device as I know the consultant informed me incorrectly and I understand that mistakes happen. I just dont want to pay for network services that I did not even have access to. I believe this is very fair from my side because techically it was Vodacoms mistake and if you look at the situation from a rational and ethical point of view as a client of 15 years I should not be held accountable for a mistake made by Vodacom. No assistance or solutions other than "pay your account" was offered. I then decided to take to Hello Peter out of pure frustration and desperation. A few days after this someone from the legal department phoned. Again I had to explain the whole story. He told me that he will help me. He told me telephonically that the amount in arrears is around R1200. If I pay an amount aroun R1800 my account will be settled and cancelled by them. I asked him to put it in writing. The email recieved then contradicted his notion. It stated that if I pay the R1800 I myself will then have to send the proof of paymet and a cancellation to the cancellation department and then only will it be cancelled. I inquired as to why this differs from what he promised me on the phone with no responce. Out of desperation I made the payment and sent the cancellation department the proof of payment with clear instruction to cancell this contract with immediate effect. No feedback received from Vodacom. I am now recieving automated robot calls trying to collect even more money from me. I went back to the original shop where I was misinformed to ask if they can tell me who the consultant was that misinformed on 16-12-2019 and also how we can resolve the matter. They did not want to tell me who the culprit was, they could not help me resolve the matter and simply told me to call the cancellation/legal department that I have already unsuccessfully tried contacting via numerous calls and mails. Furthermore they adivsed me to take the matter to the credit bureau as they know that Vodacom is useless and that will be the best option. Go figure, even Vodacom employees say this. They then mentioned that I can go to the big Vodacom shop in the Greenacre shopping centre as they are the only ones that can work on customer accounts. I went to this shop. They also informed me that I should phone the cancellation/legal department as they cannot assist me. I insisted that I have attempted this on numerous occations without success. The Vodacom consultants then phoned the cancellation department from their cellphones. They were alos cut off about 10 times before they could get through. They also had to use 4 different phones to get through... i dont know how they expect customers to get through if they themselves dont even have an open channel of communication... i then had to explain the situation to the person on the phone at the cancellation department again. Get this, her solution was that I go into a Vodacom shop! Can you believe this!? I the simply handed the Vodacom consultant back his phone and said ok so you guys are reffering me to each other. You sort it out. After the conversation the shop consultant simply shrugged and handed me a number that I need to phone. I tried phoning this number at home but guess what. I got cut off again. They had my number and didnt even phone me back. So to recap. I have paid Vodacom R1800 to try and sort out their mistake. But the thing that infuriates me the most is that my own bank did not want to give me home loan due to this "default" on my credit record. I had to accept an offer with a higher interrest rate from another bank that will cost me tens or even hundreds of thousands of rands during the course of the next 20 years. For this reason alone I am feddup and will have to take legal action if this is not resolved. Vodacom is useless. Even their employees are so demotivated working for a business that is so unequipped to do what they are supposed to. At their very core they are not capable of rendering the required service tot their clients. Their staff is not motivated or even pleased to be working for them and their whole business model is a joke. Obviously attempting to run their business with automated systems that they do not even understand. I was not able to speak to anyone with the discretionary decisions making skills or authority that can sort this out. You as a customer mean nothing to them. You are just another debit order. They have too many customers and way too little qualified staff. I would warn anyone not to do business with Vodacom. So I am sure herewith follws a generic reply and maybe if im lucky a phone call from someone not being able yo assist me in resolving the matter. I am setting up an appointment with a laywer in the meantime.
