Identity Theft and Vodacom’s Incompetence in Resolving ***** – Loyal Customer Betrayed

Subject: Identity Theft and Vodacom’s Incompetence in Resolving ***** – Loyal Customer Betrayed

I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with Vodacom’s handling of a serious ***** case committed against me — a loyal customer since 1995, using the same number for nearly three decades.

A *****ulent cellphone contract was opened using my identity, allegedly through a Vodacom call center and/or an outlet in the Ballito area. This was done without my knowledge or consent, and monthly deductions began from my bank account. Upon noticing these unauthorized deductions, I immediately stopped the transactions and reported the matter to Vodacom, stating clearly that I did not recognize the account or contract.

Later, while attempting to purchase a vehicle, I was shocked to learn that I had been blacklisted on ITC due to this *****ulent contract. I followed all due processes — I went to the police station, made an affidavit, and submitted all supporting documentation to Vodacom. I was assured that the issue would be resolved within 14 working days.

That deadline passed without a single update.

When I followed up, I was told the ***** was confirmed, but Vodacom still refused to clear my name from ITC, citing that “further investigation” was needed. It’s now 7 weeks later, and I have received no communication whatsoever from Vodacom.

Because of this unacceptable delay, the vehicle I waited 14 months for is now at risk of being sold to another customer. Vodacom’s negligence and complete lack of urgency or communication is not only infuriating, it’s damaging my financial credibility and personal life.

This experience has proven that Vodacom is not a customer-centric company. I have remained loyal for nearly 30 years, but I am now seriously considering cutting all ties with this provider. I cannot accept such appalling service, especially when it involves ***** and identity theft — a matter that should be treated with the utmost seriousness and speed.

Vodacom, I demand immediate action:

Remove my name from ITC with urgency

Provide official written communication confirming the resolution

Compensate me for the reputational and financial damages I’ve suffered

Enough is enough. I will not be ignored any longer.

The reply I got is not showing commitment as it has no deadlines or dates and times to resolve the issue. They should settle the matter, rather than continually starting the process from scratch. The vehicle dealer has sold my car today. I have suffered heavy losses on my side, yet Vodacom is so relaxed.
