I would never recommend Vodacom Fibre to anyone
If I could give Vodacom zero stars, I would. My entire experience with their fibre service has been nothing short of a nightmare.
According to Vodacom’s own website, fibre applications are supposed to be processed quickly - with routers delivered within 1–3 days and installations typically taking place within 7–14 days. I submitted my application on 24 September, and more than a month later, I’m still waiting for activation.
After applying, I received an email confirming that I would receive my router within 2 days. That never happened. I only received my router on 14 October, which is far beyond the time frame Vodacom promises. A week after my initial application, I called to follow up and was told to “be patient.” Another week later, a different agent informed me that, according to their system, the courier had cancelled my delivery because they supposedly couldn’t reach me — which is completely untrue. I have no missed calls, no voicemails, no emails, and no messages from any courier or from Vodacom. The agent then logged a ticket to the warehouse, arranging delivery etc. I have called multiple times after that, receiving no clear answers whatsoever.
On 20 October, an agent logged a ticket for installation and activation. Four days later, that ticket was cancelled without explanation. I rep**** to that email asking why it's been cancelled, because I still have no internet, and the only reply I got, was that my email can't be processed right now. I called again on 27 October, and another agent logged yet another ticket. The next day, Openserve logged an order saying activation would take place — and still, nothing has happened.
Every time I call Vodacom, the agents apologize, agree that this has gone on for too long, and promise to escalate the issue. Every time, I’m told someone will contact me — and no one ever does. It’s just an endless loop of empty promises and no accountability.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I’m a student, writing exams next week, and I app**** back in September precisely to make sure the fibre would be installed and working by the time I needed it. Now, weeks later, I’m still sitting without service, despite following up multiple times and being repeatedly assured that it would be resolved.
It’s shocking that such a large company can be this disorganized. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone, been repeatedly misinformed, and still have no working fibre line more than a month later.
Vodacom seriously needs to improve its customer service, internal communication, and follow-through. Based on my experience, I would never recommend Vodacom Fibre to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and go with another provider who actually delivers on their promises.
