I phone 6s possibly discontinued?

I am getting a new phone through my boyfriend's contract at vodacom. I've been told that the request for the IPhone 6s has been approved and is now being order and should arrive in the next week. 3 weeks later, Now I've been told that the IPhone 6s is now being discontinued from Vodacom. I've been waiting just over 3 weeks now for the iphone 6s which has been ordered for me and today I received a phone call stating that I must pick another phone because the IPhone 6s might be discontinued. I don't understand how it can be discontinued and that it is still on display for new upgrades and contracts? This is very frustrating. If anyone can please help it would be much appreciated.
