I might NEVER be able to cancel my vodacom contracts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a pity I HAD to choose a star rating. I would have preferred to have rated vodacom 0.

I have never lashed out on any kind of social platform because I think it is tactless and uncalled for especially since all problems can be sorted out by either calling a call center, visiting a branch or sending an email. But the fact that I am here, I have finally reached a point of no return. I have ZERO other options left to try and get this problem of mine resolved. I literally do not know what else I can do.

I would like to state the below for the record:

We used to have multiple contracts with vodacom for a restaurant we used to own. We had to cancel those contracts as the restaurant was put into liquidation.

Instead of letting the liquidators decide if and when to pay the bill, we went into a branch and requested that the contracts be prematurely cancelled at our own expense. This was on the 5th June 2019.

The lady at the store helped us get the quotation forms for each of the 5 contracts that we needed to cancel. She printed them out and made us sign each one individually.

There was a premature cancellation fee that had to be paid for each one of the contracts that needed to be cancelled. The lady at the branch advised us that we could add up all the amounts and swipe our card once off. So we swiped our card for the amount of R2896.00.

The lady then advised us that we need to send off that proof of payment to the cancellations department along with all the signed documents. She offered to do this on our behalf while we waited in store. After approximately half an hour, she returned informing us that the email had been successfully sent to the cancellations department.

Our cancellation reference number is 661921

The 5 different numbers that needed to be cancelled were as follows: *** *** *** *** ***

All but one contract ***) should effectively have been cancelled with immediate effect that day.

In July, approximately 1 month later, we went into a branch to go an pay for our only vodacom contract - *** - we should have only paid R100 odd for that contract. To our surprise, the cashier told us that we needed to pay in just over 2000. We paid but couldnt understand why.

When we queried that charge, the lady working at vodacom told us that it was because the cancellation had not been properly captured on the system. She got on a call with the cancellations department who advised her that they would make sure the contracts were cancelled and that we would be credited for the extra money we had paid.

At the beginning of August we went into Vodacom again to for pay for our only contract and yet again we were told that we owed around R4000. R4000 for a R100 contract. When we asked why the amount was so high, they said that we still had active contracts that were not cancelled.

We have called the cancellations department about 9 times and everytime they give us a different answer. No one has been able to help us and we do not know what to do anymore.

All we want to do is pay our contract bill of R100 but vodacom keeps saying that we cant just pay that amount, we need to pay the full outstanding amount.

Vodacom call center has been harassing us on a daily basis saying that we need to pay our account. They also send me text messages on a daily basis. It is nearing a stage where vodacom is about to hand us over but for something that is not even our fault.

We find it disgusting how quick vodacom is to call us about outstanding monies owed yet each and every time we have called the call center, they say that someone will call us back in 15 minutes. From the 9 different times we have called, we are still waiting for anyone to call us back. No one ever calls us back to try and resolve this issue.

We refuse to pay for something that should have been cancelled in June already. That is more than 6 months ago.

Vodacom switched my service off for more than two months. Two months I sat without a phone.

My husband and I are currently located in the Eastern Cape. Feeling helpless, we got in our car and DROVE all the way to Johannesburg to go to the vodacom head office to see if someone couldn't assist us there.

We got help from a really awesome man - Lee De Lease. He really tried everything in his power to help us and actually managed to get my line switched back on. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I feel that someone like that shouldn't be part of the Vodacom team because he is probably the ONLY human being there willing to work. It must be truly demoralizing for someone like that to work in such a useless environment.

However, despite all Lee's efforts, again a month later a bill arrived for the full amount for all 6 lines. vodacom is now back to harassing me for payment for something that I cancelled AND PAID FOR more than 6 months ago.

If anyone on the planet can help me cancel these lines - please get in touch with me (but hurry, vodacom may suspend my service again soon)
