I just want to cancel my contract

I have been trying to cancel a contract that has ended in Nov 2020. I went in to the store and they gave me a number I need to call, it's very frustrating that we can't just cancel in store. Everytime I speak to a consultant they are unhelpful and just keep trying to push the renewel of the contract, they ask things like why do you want to cancel the contract, what if you need something in the future my mom is also trying to cancel hers and she told them the contract was her ex husbands as she is recently divorced and their response is mam what if he needs the contract. It's ridiculous that we have to argue with consultants as to why we want to end them not even the fact that I am recently unemployed was enough for them. Every time we get told its sorted its not. Yet again today I paid for a contract I don't want, with money I don't have.
