How difficult can a sim swap be

I have been trying more than a week now to do something as simple as a sim swap with Vodacom. I upgraded my phone and received a new sim card with the phone. I phoned the customer care on Monday 9 Jan the first time. The consultant requested me to phone another number to activate the sim card. When I phoned the number, they said that they only do new accounts and cannot assist. I must be able to do the sim swap. I then phoned the customer care line again and was informed that there is a problem with the system and they cannot do the sim swap, I had to phone back later during the day when the system is up and running again. I did phone later and requested a sim swap. They tried 3 times and still no luck. When I phoned back the next day, they said I must wait 24 hours after the request was logged because it can take up to 24 hours. I phoned the next day again and was informed that they get an error every time they try to submit the request. I had to go into a store. I then went to a Vodacom store the afternoon but still no luck. They could not do the sim swap with the sim I received and had to buy a new one. Even with the new sim card, there was an error and they could not submit the request. They send me a sms later the evening to let me know that I have the phone after service with my problem. I phoned the Thursday again and they tried for the 100th time to do the sim swap. The consultant wanted me to go to a store again and then I explained that I went that route already and nobody can assist. They then log a call with the back office to investigate. I phoned again today to follow up on the status and nothing has been done. Seems like it can take up to 7 working days to investigate.

Now the big question is, will they ever do a sim swap??? or have I received a new phone that I can do absolutely nothing with??

Reviewer Update

Another 2 weeks have gone by and still no change. I phone back last Monday to follow up on the investigation and then I was told that they can only do 3 sim swaps per sim card and then the sim card is damaged. Why did they no tell me this on the first day after the third try?????

I requested the phone to be uplifted and my upgrade to be cancelled but nothing happened. Now after another week of no feedback from Vodacom, what am I suppose to do??????
