Horrific Service from VODACOM
I've had the most horrific experience with Vodacom;
In March 2021 I took out a 3 year cellphone contract - I was to pay R399 per month for 36 months. I held up my end of the contract by insuring i make payments on time for that for 36 month period. Towards the end of my contract (Feb 2024), I got a call from Vodacom attempting to "upgrade" my account - I declined, and infact told them to cancel my contract at the end of February 2024 as my 3 year contract had come to an end. End of March, my debit order deduction from Vodacom was R1059. At the time, I was out of the country and had planned to phone them to find out what this is about on my returns. I phoned them in April to find out about this - they informed me that I accepted an 'upgrade' at a Game Store in N1 City Branch of 2 x iPhones for 36 months. I told them I did no such thing. They requested me to email them a copy of my ID, 3 signatures and a form I had to complete - I immediately did as requested. I also asked them to stop the deductions whilst they are investigating - as I don't have a budget for that - they asked me to send them an email requesting this - which i did - however, they continued to deduct the R1059 in April 2024. Soon after, they called me to confirm that it indeed was a *****ulent case and my funds would be refunded within 14 days. They also sent me an email confirming this. (this was on the 18th of April). To date I haven't received my refund - it has been way over 14 days On Thursday the 9th of May I get an invoice from Vodacom - according to this invoice - they haven't cancelled my R399 contract i had with them - the money owed to me (R1059 x 2) was used to make deductions of the R399 contract. On top of that the invoice indicates that I owe them a further R17200. I have no idea what that is about!!! At this point I am tired of phoning Vodacom - I leave them an email and to date there is no response from their team.
Is there an ombudsman I can report them to?
