Horrific service and **************** - Vodacom

On 31 December 2015 I went to the Bayside Data store to get my upgrade to iPhone 6S. The person who did my upgrade never opened the box (I have eye witness to prove this). when I got home and opened my box I immediately noticed that the phone was broken, the screen completely smashed. I immediately went back to the store where no one was interested in helping and I was flat out told that I broke the phone. Again I have an eye witness that is willing to sign an affidavit that this is the truth.

I refused to take the phone and gave it to the person helping me and they said that they will let customer service know about the incident. A lady from customer service called me and claimed that iPhone is the best quality and undergoes checks (etc) before it goes to the stores and that everything indicates that I dropped the phone. Blatantly calling me a ****.

The phone went to the repair center where I got given a quote f R6000 to fix a brand new phone that I did not break and if your sales team was properly trained, they should know that it is mandatory for them to open the box in the store. He did not do this and he admitted it when I got back to the store but said my contract states that when I leave the shop it is my fault. I refuse to pay that amount on something that I did not do. So the phone went back to Bayside.

I went there twice to pick up the phone only to be told it was not there ( which it was). I was assured that I would be called to be informed where the phone is, that didnt happen. I called the store almost on a daily basis to find out where my phone is. Finally I got told the phone was there all the time. I went to go fetch the phone and they tried to give me the phone without its box and all the accessories that comes with a brand new phone. I was again told to my face that I am a **** as nowhere on the form does it state that it was give to repairs with a box. After having to fight to see the manager as he was simply not interested in seeing me ( I had to wait 40 minutes for him to come fro the back), I had to completely throw my toys to make your staff listen to me.

During this time I recognized the guy who took the phone from me on 31 December as he was working. He said that he has never seen me before in his life and again told me that I am a ****. While I was waiting for the manager, the staff member was extremely rude to me and made a hand gesture to me as one would do when you are chasing a dog away. This was highlighted to the manger but nothing was done.

A call was made to repair center where it was confirmed that the box and all accessories are at the repair center. As I clearly stated several times but I was called a ****. No apologies where made by any staff member including the manager. I was told I would get a called when the box is at the store. This never happened.

Last night I went to the store to go collect the phone. Again I was told that the phone is not there, that I must go home and come back today. Again I had to make a big drama for the staff to actually do their job. After going to the back again, the phone was found. I insisted that they open the box so I can ensure all my accessories are in the box. And as suspected items were missing. The sms slot pin was gone, no earphones and my charger has clearly been used.

Again the staff was rude and unhelpful and I was told there is nothing they can do and that the manager will call me first thing this morning. I am still waiting on the call.

The staff also told me that I am over reacting and that I am venting my anger at the wrong people. What kind of service is this? Who gave anyone the right to open my box and take items from there? Why have I not been called yet? What is going on Vodacom? It is now June, 6 month later. My phone is still broken and still at the shop. Not only are they giving me a broken phone, expecting me to pay R6k for it to be fixed but the staff is rude, insulting and unhelpful.

Stay away from Vodacom, the worst and most expensive service provider!
